It is time to start voting for your favourite Red Cedar Award book(s)! Voting runs from May 1 – 31, 2023 and all you need to do is go to (well, also read the great Canadian Red Cedar Award titles too!) |
Help We Need Somebody! Not Just Anybody!
The Society currently is looking to fill two positions: Vice-President and Director-at-Large. Our culture is very relaxed and flexible. You are only asked to do what you can realistically handle within your own busy schedule.
You will have:
- Experience working on non-profit teams
- Experience in the education sector (teacher, administrator teacher-librarian, for example)
- OR have experience in the book publishing industry
This is a great opportunity for professional development, to learn new skills, and to enrich kids’ reading experiences.

Send your book reviews so we can post them on our website and spread the word about this year’s amazing Red Cedar Reads. What better way to show your love of Canadian books, authors, and illustrators than to write about them! Calling All Volunteers: Red Cedar Award Needs You!!
If you are excited about engaging kids in grades 4-7 in reading and educating them about Canadian kidlit, this is the best volunteer gig in the province! Become part of the non-profit Young Readers’ Choice Awards Society of British Columbia and you will be helping kids, families, and educators connect with literacy through the Red Cedar Book Awards.

Join the YRCABC at its upcoming AGM and discover how you can contribute to the YRCABC and support the Red Cedar Book Awards, BC’s only book prize that kids get to vote for!

At the meeting, you will have the opportunity to:
- find out about YRCABC’s operations and finances
- ask questions about the YRCABC
- speak about any items on the agenda including joining!
