Help & FAQ

1. What is the Red Cedar Book Award?

Each year, students just like you vote for their favourite books. You decide who gets the Red Cedar Book Award by voting for your favourite fiction and non-fiction books. Voters should read a minimum of five books in the category (fiction or information books) that they are voting.

2. When does Red Cedar happen?

The program starts in November each year.  You and your group read and discuss the books until April. You vote for your favourite books at the end of April, and winners are announced at the Gala in June.

3. I am starting a new Red Cedar book group. How do I register to become a Group Leader?

First step: email your registration request to redcedaraward@gmail.com. Include you full first and last name, a preferred email address, and the name of your library or school (if applicable).  By registering you will receive notifications from us and be eligible to interview an author.
