Throughout arctic expeditions, the gold rush, the building of the CPR, and the hardships faced by First Nations and immigrants, photography has documented and even influenced the events that have threatened and strengthened the growth of our great country. As a young nation, Canada is uniquely able to tell the whole of its story in photographs. Mirror with a Memory does this beautifully, capturing key moments of our heritage from Confederation to Québec’s near separation. What emerges is a moving visual account of Canada’s diverse peoples and defining past.
